Carol was born in Cornwall, New York on April 7, 1934 to Carl and Margaret (Doherty) Holmstrom.
At the age of 12, her family moved to Duluth, and in 1951 Carol graduated from Central High School.
Carol was employed as a Satellite Manager for Food Nutrition (“Lunch Lady”) with the Duluth Public Schools at Lester Park. She began working there in the 1970’s, and upon her retirement in the late 1990’s the school named the cafeteria, Seymour Hall, in her honor.
Carol was a 50 year member of Lester Park United Methodist Church and a member of its Naomi Circle.
She served as a volunteer at the Salvation Army, Depot and CHUM. She had also been a Northern Pine Girl Scout Leader.
Carol traveled extensively. She enjoyed many places including Europe, but especially loved her many trips to New York.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl and daughter, Kristine Nagel (8/30/2010).
Survivors include her four children; Sharon (Rick) Lane, Tom (Lori) Seymour, Kathryn (Kris) Kuhlmey and Cindy (Tom) Leider; brother, Tom Holmstrom; 11 grandchildren, Anne (Derek) Wang, Kathryn (Darrick) Mischke, Tim Lane, Ian Seymour, Andrew Seymour, Cody Ronding, Krissa Boman, Valerie Leider, Alaina Leider , Grace Leider and Brandon Nagel; four great grandchildren, Olivia and Aubrie Mischke, and Sydney and Aiden Wang; and Ron Nagel.
Other people who were special in Carol’s life were the Naomi’s Angels and the people of the Scleroderma Foundation.
Memorials in Carol’s name may be directed to Lester Park United Methodist Church or the Scleroderma Foundation.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Jarvi Dowd Chapel. 925 East 4th Street. Rev. David Bard officiating.
