She was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Lamar, Colo., to Etta Ruth (McSpadden) Miller and Clarence Eugene Miller, Jr. She was a 1960 graduate of Richfield High School and received a bachelor¹s degree in 1964 from St. Cloud State College and earned additional credits in learning disabilities from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Carol married Leonard Bland Kucera July 18, 1964, in International Falls, Minn.
She taught fourth grade in International Falls before resigning to raise her family. Later, she was a learning disabilities teacher for Mid-Range Cooperative and Hibbing School District. When she retired in January 1999, she was a learning disabilities teacher for the Greenhaven School in Hibbing, Minn.
Carol was a Past Worthy Matron of Taconite Chapter No. 217 Order of the Eastern Star in Chisholm, Minn., and Past President of Alpha Delta Kappa. She had membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution Josiah Edison Chapter in Northfield, Minn., and she was a member of Going to Pieces Quilters.
One of Carol¹s passions was creating beautiful crafts for family, friends and charity. Carol had a green thumb as well. She founded the Upper Cody Community Garden in West Duluth with the help of her neighbors. Carol also loved to travel.
She and her husband visited all seven continents after they retired.
Surviving Carol are her husband, Leonard; her daughter, Carolyn (Dominic) Ludwig of Chisholm; her son, Jacob (Anna) of Minneapolis; her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Burt Rounds of Duluth; brothers, George (Meredie) Rounds of Bigfork and Charles (Barbara Hemenway) Rounds of Duluth; four grandchildren, Isaac, Micah, Faith and Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Miller, Jr.
Funeral: Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10,at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth. Pastors Brenda and Scott Kilber will officiate.
