When in Rochester at Season's Hospice, Aunt Carol recalled fond memories of the Alaska trip that she and Dick and Erik took in the early 2000s. I can't remember the year, but she did. She spoke of the moose burger that Dick tried, the beautiful scenery throughout the trip, and the shared laughter and wonderful moments together.

I took a great interest in taking care of Carol @ Seasons Hospice House. I was from Superior, so we reminisced about places we knew. May she rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of Carol's passing but happy that she flew away to glory. That was her wish and prayer. I feel vey blessed to have known her. I have many fun memories at Dick and Carol's house in Morgan Park: laughing, playing games, enjoying bon fires, and eating really good food. Thank-you Sherry and Deb for sharing your Mom with me. Dear Uncle Dick, Deb, Sherry and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Aunt Carol was a beautiful lady who had so much LOVE in her. The last time I visited with her and Uncle Dick she surprised and gifted me with an old childhood toy Emit Kelly clown doll that my Mom was throwing out when I was about three. Only Aunt Carol would think about collecting it up and refurbishing it to like new and returning it to me in my 50's. It is still one of my most cherished gifts. God bless you Aunt Carol, I know your enjoying the embraces of Ricky and Steven.

Carol was our wonderful neighbor.   She and Dick would walk over to our house and, in the summer, make a bonfire and visit over wieners and marshmallows.  Our last conversation was over geneology and her book.  She was a great conversationalist with a warm smile that always greeted us.  Hope our thoughts, Dick and family, give you comfort. Dear Dick, Deb, Sherry, and family,
Our sympathy to you as you grieve for Carol. How beautiful that you all were with her when she died. Sherry, you cared for your mother beautifully while she was in Rochester. 
As her chaplain, I enjoyed getting to know Carol and talking with her about her pride in her grandchildren, her participation in Elim Church, and her love of music. We shared some meaningful prayers together.

Mom was blessed to have great hospice care. She lived pretty comfortably the past two years with her stage IV esophageal cancer diagnosis, with a DNR order and a refusal for invasive treatment. She died as she lived...she directed her journey.  

She was especially glad for grandkids smiles and visits, music, and backrubs. She enjoyed the many birds, squirrels, wild turkeys and deer she viewed from her bed. She named the ambitious squirrels who visited her window.

Thanks, Dad, for providing so very well for Mom.

I have a lot of happy fun memories of Carol from my childhood.  In a lot of ways, she was like Auntie Carol to me too. I am thankful that she is no longer suffering and that she is at peace. She will be missed. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Our sympathies to you all.  I remember going to visit Norway and discovering that Dick and Carol had been there, and had discovered relatives who lived there.  It made it so much easier to find my roots.  Arlet Johnson
