Beverly was born in Duluth on March 3, 1931 to William and Helma (Smith) Johnston. She attended and graduated from Denfeld High School and soon after moved to the Grand Marais area where she met Clarence L. Stokke. On October 15, 1949 they were united in marriage in Duluth. Beverly spent the next several years raising her family and working as the bookkeeper for the family business. In 1987 she retired with her husband Clarence. They spent the next several years traveling across the United States in their motor home. They also took a number of cruises including one through the Panama Canal on their 50th wedding anniversary. In her younger years, Beverly was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital and played a role in forming the Alborn Snow Devils. She enjoyed cross stitching and shopping as well as the frequent gatherings at the family cabin on Aerie Lake. Family played an integral part of Beverly’s life. “Everybody loved grandma.”

Beverly is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Monica) Stokke and David (Pam) Stokke both of Hermantown; daughter Cheryl (Murray) Keogan of Duluth; grandchildren, Mollie (Scott) Lucia of Hermantown, Shaine (Jennifer) Stokke of Duluth, Justin Stokke of Hermantown, Jesse (Kara) of Sioux Falls, SD, Stacey Stokke of Hermantown, Deandra (Adam) Brinkman of Hermantown, Kristopher (Carli Stevens) Bjonskass of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Jackson, Cole, Bailey, Madeline, Kylee and Cade; special nephew, Roger (Sandy) Scott of Cottage Grove as well as many other family members and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home 601 N. 56th Ave. W. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
