He met the love of his life at a dance and on August 23rd, 1947, he married Florence Korpela in Automba Township. Art and Florence were married for 68 years prior to Florence’s passing. Arthur served in World War II in the Navy and eventually settled in Cromwell, Minnesota to build their life together. He was self-employed much of his life, ultimately building a successful logging business in the area in which he retired from. Arthur enjoyed traveling, flying his helicopter, and wood working. To this day, he leaves many of his “works of Art.”
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Florence, sisters Helen Schmid and Dorothy Knight, and brother William.
Florence and Art had three children. Geraldine (Edward) Nynas, Donna (Tim) Newgren-Isaacson, and Steven (Andrea) Newgren. They had nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell on Thursday, October 4th with visitation at 11:00, 12:00 service. Family memorial for both Arthur and Florence at a later day.
