William Wadih Khoury, age 86 of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Brother of the late Roland Khoury and son of the late Wadih and Wadiha Khoury, William was born and raised in Jerusalem, Palestine. At the age of 12, he and his family were forced from their home country and found refuge in Ghazir, Lebanon, where they lived for nine years. During this time, William continued to pursue his education at an Arabic, French, and English school where he eventually graduated. In 1957, he was able to return to Jerusalem where he lived for a few months before immigrating to the United States to pursue his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University. He earned his degree in international economics in 1961, the same year he married his wife, Carolynne, on June 16th in Columbus near Ohio State’s campus. Following his marriage, William spent the next four years with his family and Carolynne in Jerusalem where he worked at his father’s currency-exchange business. He then returned to the United States and, for the next few decades, conducted business internationally and supported his family. In 1990, he became the owner and president of C.H. Symington and Company, Inc. where he worked alongside his wife and their daughters for over thirty years. William’s drive and passion made him both a successful businessman and a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. As a refugee and immigrant, the odds were stacked against him his whole life, but every time he rose above them.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolynne, and will be greatly missed by his children, Monique (Khoury) and Suzanne (Mark) Svensson; grandchildren, Hayley (Logan) Wright and Aubrey Svensson; many extended family members, neighbors, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Schoedinger Dublin.
