Richard Warren Martin

Richard Warren Martin, age 90, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Richard was born in 1933 in Wiota, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Harold and Helen Martin. Richard is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Alice Speicher Martin and his sister Joan Koch. Richard is survived by his devoted children, Diana R. Martin and Steven C. Martin; and brother, David Martin. Richard received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, M.S. in Chemical Engineering and M.B.A from West Virginia University. He had a long career as a chemical engineer, ultimately becoming a Vice President at Ashland Chemical in Dublin. During his career, he travelled the world, often with his wife Mary as part of licensing various technologies. As a loving father, Richard spent many evenings tutoring his son, Steve, on math and science puzzles and problems, who earned degrees in Electrical Engineering. He encouraged his daughter, Diana, in her musical endeavors leading to a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. Most importantly, he was caretaker to his beloved wife, Mary, as she lived with multiple sclerosis. Despite Mary’s physical challenges, Richard and their children joined together in annual vacations throughout their time together. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. The family will have a private service at a later date.
