Phyllis Virginia Slee, age 76, passed away June 18, 2022, peacefully at home. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio on November 1, 1945. Phyllis was preceded in death by parents Rachel “Betsy” Elizabeth and Tony Jesko Martin; brother, Robert Anthony Martin. She is survived by her husband of over fifty-five years, Robert “Bob” Kenneth Slee, Jr; children Adam Wesley (Josie), and Nicole Elizabeth Slee; and grandson, Marquel; brother Thomas (Ann) Martin; and dogs Frodo and Daisy.
Phyllis was a proud graduate of West High School, showing school spirit as a “Weskit.” She earned a degree in home economics from Ohio University and master of science in education from the University of Dayton. Among many activities, she was a Kappa Delta.
She worked 20 years as a middle school home economics teacher and 15 years as a guidance school counselor in Southwestern City Schools.
Phyllis and Bob married April 15, 1967, having known each other since middle school. She was a long-time member of Northwest United Methodist Church. Phyllis co-lead Disciple Bible Study with Bob – it was often said that while Bob was the class facilitator, Phyllis was the heart. Phyllis and Bob also enjoyed many travel adventures, always taking time to find the local quilt store.
An avid quilter and home decorator, Phyllis put love into everything she did. She never knew a stranger. Relationships and family were very important to her. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on July 9th at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Dr, Columbus, OH 43220.
