Mitchell “Mitch” G. Abraham, 93, of Powell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with his loving wife of 70 years by his side. Born on September 5, 1931, in Athens, Ohio, Mitch lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, leaving behind a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Mitch was a proud graduate of Athens High School, and he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Papa Joe” and Philomena Abraham, and his siblings: Jim, Charlie, Julia, Bill, Ray, and Paul; grandson, Chad, whose memory remained close to his heart. On February 5, 1955, Mitch married the love of his life, Ellen “Bebe” Abraham. Their bond was unbreakable, and they shared more than 70 years of marriage filled with deep affection, joy, and unwavering commitment. Together, they raised four children: Mike (Jill) Abraham, Debra (Mike) Wooten, David Abraham, and Dee (Blaine) Conrad. Mitch was also the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces who will continue to carry his legacy of hard work, never knowing a stranger, and perseverance forward. Known by many as “8 Ball,” Mitch was a beloved figure in the Athens community, especially to the college students of Ohio University who visited or worked for him at Angelo’s Pizza, Mr. McGoos, Igors, Dexter’s Subs, and other businesses. For many years, his establishments were a central part of the community, a place where people came not only for great food but for the warmth of Mitch’s spirit. His love of cooking and food, combined with his gift for hospitality, made him a cherished figure in the area. Mitch had a zest for life that extended beyond his culinary skills. He loved a good card game, enjoyed traveling with his family, was known for belting out his favorite tunes, and always sought out the next great experience. His sense of humor, generosity, and love for his family and friends were the hallmarks of his personality, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, with the opportunity to greet family and friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
