A 2022 graduate of Dublin Coffman High School, and most recently a student at Columbus State Community College working towards a degree in biology, with the intention of pursing higher education upon graduation.
Michael went through a lot in his young life, and struggled with some of the “norms” that society conforms to, making some of his personal life choices and hope for happiness seem unattainable. Ultimately, he decided that he preferred to be called “M” or “Timo” as he worked towards obtaining his wishes and expressed to all who they were as a trans woman. His / their life was a testament to love and resilience, and we are all very proud.
M’s passions in life will be carried forward by the surviving family, parents Siri Anderson and Chris Timo, sisters Nicole Timo and Hannah (Derek) Harrison, grandparents Else and Johan Løining, aunts and uncles Hilde (Fredrik) Johnsen, Barb, Mike, and Dan (Kathy) Timo, Nancy (Larry) Meister; cousins Cecilie, Astrid, and Martin Johnsen, and Allison Timo; along with many extended family members.
If you knew M, you know they loved solitude, and spent extensive time contemplating their space in the world at many of the Columbus Metro Parks, and State and national parks. M had a passion for animal and plant life identification. It was always a treat when M would give an impromptu lecture on a new tree species they had recently identified. Their dry and quick-witted sense of humor was appreciated by all and will be missed.
M was very academically gifted, and enjoyed their science and math classes. They loved to be challenged in school and at home, where they worked on ciphers, and learning Norwegian and Morse code in their free time. But M was more than an academic, they were an incredible saxophone player, which they played in high school marching band, and took weekly lessons for fun since graduating. They enjoyed playing a variety of instruments, and transcribed existing works to be played with their musician friends. We will miss their drawings, and their quiet and gentle way of showing love to us all.
As we prepare to bid them farewell, we will have a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017. A service will precede visitation, starting at 4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers and to honor of M’s legacy the family requests that contributions be made to The Columbus Metro Parks (https://www.metroparks.net/), the greater Columbus Suicide Prevention Center (https://columbussuicideprevention.org), or the Trevor Project (https://givethetrevorproject.org).
Their departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but their legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing them. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Schoedinger.com for the family of Michael "M" Timo.
