Michael William Payne

Michael (Mike) Payne died on Saturday, September 16, 2023 in Dublin, Ohio. Mike was raised in Chickamauga, Ga. He lived down the street from his first girlfriend, who became his wife, Pamela Payne, and was the love of his life. Mike loved sports and played until his knees gave way to injuries, but he continued to be on the ball fields, becoming a coach for Dublin Youth Athletics (DYA).

Mike served his country in the US Air Force and afterward, chose engineering as his profession.

Most of all, Mike was a devoted husband and Dad. He had a heart for family. A perfect day for him would be spending the day coaching his kids on the ball field, coming home to watch some SEC football, then grilling a late night dinner for his family and a house full of friends. The Payne house was the place to be!

Sadly, Mike's health began to fail and he endured a host of major medical events until his body lost all strength, but he did this with few complaints and a cheerful spirit. His caregivers were in awe of his pleasant demeanor, while facing such hardship.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Pamela Payne and his children, Michael (and Fabiola) Payne, Christopher (and Angel) Payne, Jennifer Payne, and Zachary Payne, along with 8 grandchildren.

A celebration of Mike's life will be planned for a later date. Memorial donations may be made, in honor of Mike, to St. Jude's Children's hospital, as Mike had such a heart for children.
