Lori Lee Thayer, 65, passed away on March 31, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 11, 1958, in Salem, Ohio. After high school, she obtained her Bachelor’s in Education from Kent State University and her Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Dayton. She spent her career as an elementary school teacher and principal, as well as a curriculum director for Salem City Schools. Lori was an active member in several church organizations including multiple Bible studies and Marriage Encounter. Her hobbies included shopping, reading The Bible, going out to eat, and above all, spending time with her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Gloria McNeelan. Lori will be greatly missed by her husband, Curtis Thayer; children, Bennett (Bethany) Thayer and Whitney (Steve) Jeckavitch; biological mother, Jean (Dick) Powell; grandchildren, Jude, Mila, Grace, and Charlie; and her sister Terry McCartney.
Lori’s family remembers how she never complained, always kept a smile on her face, how she was a strong fighter in her health battles, and was forgiving and selfless. She brought light to so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lori’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
