John Daniel Keith Jr. was born on May 6, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Shirley and John D. Keith Sr. As the middle child and the only son, John may have been a little spoiled at times – and perhaps even the favorite (sorry, Sheila and Donna).
John attended Florida State University on a baseball scholarship, where he proudly held the position of starting catcher for all four years. He even played in the College World Series. Florida State became a family tradition – along with a shared disdain for the Florida Gators.
In his career as a Manufacturer’s Representative, John was fortunate to do work he genuinely loved and remained active in his field until just a few months before his passing. A passionate golfer, John was a proud member of Muirfield Village Golf Club for more than 20 years, where he spent many hours on the course – and just as many in the clubhouse, at the card table with his close friends.
John met the love of his life, Elyse, on a blind date in September of 1981. By December 1982, they were married – John didn’t waste any time. Their son, John Daniel Keith III, was born in October 1984. Together, John and Elyse enjoyed a life full of travel, laughter, and countless friendships.
John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elyse; his son John (Tiffany); his son Jamie Miller; daughter Kristen Yudis (Daniel Bryant); grandchildren Margaret Keith, Mason Yudis, and Sophia Yudis; and his sisters Sheila Roebke and Donna Rex (John).
John’s sharp wit, generous heart, and vibrant presence touched everyone he met and will be deeply missed.
Rest easy, John D. Keith Jr. – also known as “Love Machine.”
A celebration of John’s life will take place at the Golf Club of Dublin on Friday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m.
