Jennifer Dutey Readler was born in Ironton, Ohio on October 21, 1971, and passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2023 at her home in Dublin, Ohio due to complications from a fall. She was the daughter of James L. (deceased) and Sally Cyrus Dutey of Dublin, Ohio. Jennifer graduated summa cum laude from Marshall University in 1994 with a B.B.A. She then graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with a J.D. in 1997. Jennifer was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority during her time at Marshall University.
She was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, American Bar Association, Ohio Municipal Attorneys Association, International Municipal Lawyers Association, American Planning Association, Ohio Planning Association, Ohio City Manager Association, and admitted to practice before the United States District Court – Southern District of Ohio. Admitted to the Membership of the law firm of Frost Brown Todd in 2013, Jennifer served faithfully as the Law Director for the city of Dublin from 2015 until her passing. She was also previously a Partner with the law firms of Ice Miller and Schottenstein, Zox & Dunn. She was named to The Best Lawyers in America, Municipal Law 2021-2023 and named “Lawyer of the Year”, 2023 by Columbus Municipal Law. She was a member of The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio and Leadership Columbus (class of 2004).
She is survived by her beloved husband Philip Hartmann, daughter Peyton Marisa Readler, mother Sally Cyrus Dutey, brother Jim (Amie) Dutey, niece Kaitlin (Jarod) Van Winkle, niece Alexandra Van Winkle, mother-in-law Nancy Hartmann, brothers-in-law Rob (Shelby) Hartmann and Ben Hartmann, nephews Zach and Nick (Stephanie) Hartmann and her precious Golden Retriever Annabelle and loyal kitty companion Luna.
Jennifer was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter and her family was her utmost priority and joy in life. She loved frequent traveling with her family and friends, walks in the park with her mother, daughter and Annabelle, and hiking and spending time in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jennifer passionately served the City of Dublin and greatly cherished all of the long-term professional and personal relationships she built over the years with Dublin and Firm colleagues. Jennifer’s pride and joy was her daughter Peyton who graduated in 2023 as Class President at the Columbus School for Girls and will begin her First Year at the University of Virginia in the Fall.
Calling hours for friends and family will be Saturday July 29th at 10:00 am with services to immediately follow at noon at Schoedinger Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jennifer’s memory to the Dublin, Ohio Food Pantry, or the American Cancer Society.
