Born on July 28, 1938, Jane was the daughter of Lester and Margaret Mary (Mimi) Stevenson, and the sister of Robert (Bo, Bob) Stevenson, all of whom predeceased her. She grew up on Broadview Avenue on “The Hill” in Grandview, Ohio.
Jane graduated in 1956 from St. Mary’s of the Springs Academy. She went on to earn a Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. Jane and her former husband, Paul Sopko, had four children and lived in Columbus.
She was proud of the successful career she built in home health care that spanned more than 40 years, starting as a nursing supervisor for Medical Personnel Pool in Columbus. As the business expanded regionally and became TSO Management, so did Jane’s leadership roles. She was the matriarch of the organization, a teacher, mentor, and solutions-oriented manager. She retired in 2013 as Chief Operations Officer with many honors. The company has renamed its “President’s Award” to the “Jane Sopko Award for Customer Service.”
Jane and Jeffrey enjoyed a beautiful life in Arizona, with its desert views and gorgeous skies. But she returned to Dublin each year for the summer to visit family and friends, including her “golden friend” of 80 years, Mimi Murphy. Jane loved good restaurants, a nice Chardonnay, shopping, travel, sports (she could give NFL analysts a run for their money), and her children and grandchildren. A pianist since childhood, she entertained each Christmas with holiday songs.
In addition to her husband, Jeffrey, she is survived by her children Leslie (Steve) Orr of Rochester, NY; Jeff (Sally) Sopko of Powell; David (Laurie) Sopko of Dublin: and Lynn (Rex) Skinner of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren Kyle Sopko, Alex (Elizabeth) Skinner, Ben Orr, Emma, Matthew, Olivia and Luke Sopko, step-grandchildren Colin (Julia) and Caitlin Orr, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 5-7:30 pm with a service at 5:30 pm at SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center/St. Joseph’s Foundation, 350 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85013.
