James Irvin Miller, 68, of Dublin, Ohio, Passed away after a courageous 10-month battle with cancer on December 4th, 2022. Jim was born on September 22nd, 1954, to Barbra Jane and Lester Gene Miller in Rushville, Indiana. After Graduating from Rushville High School, he attended Ball State University on a full Golf Scholarship and continued on to get his master’s in education at THE Ohio State University. Jim began his teaching career in Hagerstown, Indiana before moving on to Dublin City Schools in 1979. He held several positions throughout the district: teacher, principal, HR director, and interim superintendent before retiring in 2007. During his time at Dublin City School an honor he received was the library in Chapman Elementary dedicated in his name. Jim for over 30 years was the boys basketball coach and was a mentor to countless students and staff. After retiring from Dublin City Schools he continued working in HR throughout the Columbus area.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Allyson Ann and two bonus children, Zachary and Christian Bott, siblings Shirley Jane Natemeier, Michael Gene Miller, Wayne Lester Miller, Mother and Father-in-law Kathleen and Dr. Thomas Helmrath, his in-law’s, Jennifer and Dr. Michael Helmrath, Susan and Christopher Helmrath, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and best Wendy’s eating and Twinkie loving canine companion McLovin.
Jim was a scratch golfer (only handicap was Allyson), an avid IU Hoosier, endless jokester, and kind- hearted selfless mentor, who never missed a gameday “board” meeting.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Schoedinger Dublin; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017 on December 16th 2022 from 2-6pm.
