Dorthea (“Dottie”) Lamb Westfall of Powell, Ohio passed away peacefully with her husband of 69 years at her bedside along with her four children. Dottie was born in Blandsburg PA to Dora Marks and Charles Carlton Lamb. She met her future husband at Latrobe High School. In school, Dottie enjoyed singing, and was an accomplished clarinetist. She attended college at the University of Pittsburgh. She and her husband moved from Pittsburgh to Upper Arlington in 1964 where they lived for 18 years before moving to Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan for 10 years. Dottie and Marty later resided in Versoix Switzerland on the banks of Lake Geneva. Upon their return stateside, they moved to Powell where she and Marty lived for 30 years.
Dottie is survived by her husband Marty, children Marty (Diane), Kevin (Beth), Chris (Maureen) and Laura Casey along with seven grandchildren whom she doted on, Katie, Maddy, Nicholas, Olivia, Henry, Jack and Karsen; and her sister, Peggy Barnett. Her brother Chuck predeceased her. Dottie enjoyed membership at Muirfield Village Golf Club, one of her favorite places, Scioto Country Club, where she served on the entertainment committee, and the Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier, PA. Dottie was a past member of The Grosse Pointe Club, the Country Club of Detroit and Domaine Impérial in Gland, Switzerland. She was actively involved in charitable and cultural endeavors in all the cities she resided including serving on the St. Andrew Women’s Auxiliary where she was a parishioner for many years, Beaux Art, and Franklin Park Conservatory. She was an active volunteer and benefactor of the Detroit Artist Market and chaired the entertainment committee for the Detroit Grand Prix. She also chaired international conferences for partners and their spouses of Coopers & Lybrand.
Dottie was much beloved by her family and many friends. She had a bright smile and a sparkle in her eye along with a mischievous sense of humor. Dottie was an avid bridge player and voracious reader. She loved gardening and was an accomplished cook much to the delight of her family and friends. Dottie enjoyed antiquing and was quite knowledgeable on the subject. She travelled the world and visited every continent except for Antarctica which she had no desire to visit notwithstanding the penguins. Dottie leaves a legacy of caring and love. She never missed a birthday or holiday and not only marked every milestone with a sense of occasion, but she also cherished the small moments too and always had time for a cup of tea and a long talk with a friend or family member.
A private funeral Mass will take place at St. Vincent Basilica and internment at Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum on the campus of the St Vincent Archabbey in Westmoreland County, PA.
