Passed away suddenly in the early hours of July 13th 2023. Born on October 11th, 1986, she was only 36 years old. As an October baby, Diana loved the excitement that time of year brings along with the fun of Halloween; she often wished the charm of the season could linger beyond its 31 days. She was a force. Smart, quick-witted, crass, hilarious, she didn’t back down easily and she taught others to stand up for themselves. She had a creative imagination that showed in her writing, her storytelling and in play with her sisters and nieces. A lover of music with a beautiful singing voice, she could always tell you the name and the artist of any song. She protected and defended the ones she loved and was closest to. Forever making quiet jokes to make people laugh. She was always there for us. Diana was preceded in death by Paternal Grandparents Robert Kay and Sharon Kay/ Elliott, Maternal Grandparents Shirley and Vangel Jovanovski and beloved cousin Jeffrey “Jay” Parker Jr. She is survived by her parents Ruben Kay (61), Marcia Kay (59), her little sisters Rebekah Kay (34) and Heidi Kay (30), her nieces Carmella Ailiff (6), and Isabella Kay-Ailiff (1), her brother-in-law Michael Stone (33); and Mark Ailiff (32). As well as many other beloved relatives.
Diana was born to Ruben and Marcia Kay at 6:30pm on a Saturday in October just after the sun began to set. Her name was chosen, well before she was conceived, because of Ruben’s love for Wonder Woman. She was a brown-headed little girl with Shirley Temple curls who was doted on by her parents. The oldest of 3 girls, she was always made to be the caregiver and the watcher of her little sisters. Then, when her first niece Carmella came around, she was able to jump into that new role and dote upon her every need. Diana had health issues from her teenage years and beyond, but she always fought through them, just wanting to get back home. Home was her comfort zone, a favorite chair was Diana’s special place and now seeing it empty is the worst thing in the world. Board games, tv shows, video games, collecting Disney memorabilia, those were the things she loved to do with her family. A constant companion to her parents, she was reliable and her memory for the smallest details was beyond compare. She could be argumentative and extremely opinionated at times, but she was an amazingly sweet person. She would play and be silly with her nieces, her patience for them was without bounds, she loved them with all of her heart. Diana's spirited presence will be sorely missed, her laughter forever etched in our hearts, and her memory ever cherished in our minds. The mark she made on our lives will remind us to stand tall, love fiercely, and laugh often, just as she did.
A visitation for Diana will be held at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Dr. Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
