Denece is preceded in death by her parents, James Lawrence and Ella Lois Endicott of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Lois Lea (Thornton) Crum, Debbie Ann (Jimmy) Endicott; and a brother, James “Kelly” Endicott. Denece is also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Dolores Smith, and brother-in-law Patrick Ahern. Denece is survived by her husband of 36 years, Charles Smith. She leaves behind three sisters and two brothers: Aletta (Ronald) Clendenin, Cathy (Tony) Toops, Minerva (Lonnie) Mills, Roy Endicott, Ronald (Jewel) Endicott; sisters-in-law Susan Justus, Sherry (Sam) Ahern and brothers-in-law Rodger (Lisa) Smith and Richard Smith. Denece never had biological children of her own, but she leaves behind 25 nieces and nephews, 46 greats, and even 20 great-greats. Nece (as they called her) was a second mother to all. She spent most of her years serving the Kidney Foundation, 21 years to be exact. If you ever got a call to donate your home goods, you’ve probably spoken to Denece. In addition to her work, Denece was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed watching her daily soaps, Days of Our Lives, reading romance novels and spending time surrounded by family. Denece was loved by everyone she encountered! She will leave footprints on everyone’s heart. She will be missed so much by so many.
A visitation for Denece will be held Friday, December 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
