David Lawrence Cullinan, 72, passed away on July 6, 2023. He was born on July 2, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Elberta (nee Schirtzinger) Cullinan. David attended The Ohio State University and Oregon State University. For many years David worked as a Porsche mechanic in Kirkland, WA. He later went to work at CityScapes, Inc. in 2001, as a sales associate for the West Coast until moving back to Ohio in January, 2005, where his dedication and excellence earned him the position of Sr. VP of Operations. He retired in January 2023 only after his battle with cancer would not allow him to continue. Even then, he remained an important voice to the company, guiding and offering insight where he could.
In his 20’s, David was an avid sailor and always loved to be on and/or in the water. On his last trip, St. Johns, USVI in March, 2023, David and his brother Mike were seen splashing around in the ocean, laughing and just enjoying life. He loved to golf (regardless of his abilities) and had some of his best days over the last 20 years golfing with his brothers, great friends and most importantly, Catherine. Everyone has a golf story to tell with David. He loved sports and going to OSU basketball and football games. A tradition started as a teen with his dad and one that continued with his brothers. More recently you could find him sitting on the sun porch with a fire going, a glass of Jack Daniels and a good cigar watching a game. He was a great communicator and boy did he have stories. Some were repeated many times and others were still new to the listener, but you never interrupted him or got tired of hearing them.
David was an incredible man. He was kind, trustworthy, humble, and loyal with an incredible heart. He was so very smart. A trait he didn’t always believe. He didn’t read books but would go through an operation manual for a tool or appliance like it was a number one best seller. He was a dedicated father to his daughter Emily whom he adored. He was the kind of dad that every kid wanted, and every parent wanted to be. He was an incredible partner for many years, finally becoming a husband to Catherine. Though he wasn’t big on saying “I love You”, she knew it every day in the way he looked at her and treated her. David was truly a one-of-a-kind special person. You knew you were blessed and lucky to have him in your life. Losing him leaves a hole in many hearts that cannot be filled.
David is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susie. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Catherine (nee Drake) McIntyre; daughter, Emily (Zack); stepchildren, Johnathon and Katie; brothers, Mike (Kathy), Jack (Rebecca), Jim (Olena), and Bob (Jill) Cullinan; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
We will celebrate David at Schoedinger Funeral, 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, OH 43017, with a visitation being held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 5-8 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00am followed by a catered reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/donate.html
