Barbara Lee (Slavens) Fiffick, 86, passed away May 18, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 18, 1935 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Joseph P. and Bessie M. Slavens. She attended Mount Sinai School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio and received her degree as a registered nurse. She worked at OSU Medical Center and Youngstown Sheet and Tube throughout her career. Barb belonged to Monday Musical and St. Charles Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She also belonged to Mill Creek Golf League, Mohawk Golf League, and a bowling league. She loved to play Bridge, and cook and bake for her family. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was her true passion.
During her marriage to Dr. Edward J. Fiffick, they had six children together, Edward (Bud) J. Fiffick Jr., David (Lisa) Fiffick, Suzie (Roy) Harness, Cathy (Jamie) Judge, Sharon (Steve) Zimmerman. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Abbey, Max, Kyle, Alex, Shawn, Zach, Joseph, Jack, Nicholas, Sophie, and Mia; and 7 great grandchildren, Sebastian, Elliott, Penelope, Dylan, Leo, Brooks, and Stella; two sisters, Carol (Bill) Branscome and JoAnn (Buck) Stoner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Brian Fiffick and her parents.
Barb loved Sieta Key Beach and all her friends at Siesta Harbor. She will be greatly missed by her family and many lifelong friends in Youngstown, Ohio. She was loved very much by her family, but as she would say, “I love you more.”
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Dublin. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11am at St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Incare Home Health and Hospice who cared so lovingly for her or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
