Curtis Curt LeRoy Preston Sr.

Curt was born on February 15, 1926 in Brockway, a son of the late Kempton I. and Bertha M. Bliss Preston. He attended Brockway schools before joining the U.S. Navy in 1943. After he returned home from war, he married Josephine "Jo" Ann Modaffare on October 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2001.

Curt was a member of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Falls Creek. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, the U.S. Navy L.S.T. Association, the Veterans of Foreign War Post 813 in DuBois, the American Legion Post 95 in Brockway and the Falls Creek Eagles Aerie 965. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Curt is survived by five sons: Patrick "Rick" K. Preston and his wife, Connie, of Falls Creek, Curtis "Curt" L. Preston, Jr. of Reynoldsville, Gregory S. Preston and his wife, Liz of Sykesville, Joel L. Preston of Falls Creek and Michael T. Preston of Falls Creek; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Ruth Maiers of Brockway.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Jo; a grandson, Adam Preston; brothers: William, Edward, Robert and Ivan Preston; and sisters: Nancy Witz, Emma Lou Farrell, and Evelyn Preston. Also preceding are several infant siblings.

A funeral service will be at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from2 to 4:00pm and 7 to 9:00pm and on Wednesday from 2 until the time of service. Full military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign War Post 813 Honor Guard on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery, Falls Creek.
