Born on June 14, 1915 in DuBois, the son of the late Harvey and Martha(Horn) Shaffer.
Clair was a retired self-employed farmer. He served in the United State Army and he received a purple heart for his service in WWII.
He was Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Reynoldsville American Legion and Reynoldsville Eagles. He enjoyed farming and hunting.
Mr. Shaffer is survived by seven children: Rev. Raymond (Janis) Shaffer of DuBois, Sherry(Rev. James)Green of Reynoldsville, Wanda Trunzo of Brockway, John(Mary) Shaffer of Punxsutawney, Bruce(Marian)Shaffer of Punxsutawney, Brian(Shannon)Shaffer of DuBois and Rick(Brenda)Shaffer of DuBois. Also survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dora(Waite)Shaffer, who passed away on February 29, 1980, three brothers: Robert, George and Floyd Shaffer and three sisters: Sarah Johnston, Gladys Kriner and Mildred Smith. Also preceded in death by his son-in-law William Trunzo.
Funeral service for Mr. Shaffer will be held at 2:30PM at Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 11, 2012 with F.D. Bryan officiating. Interment will be in Rockton Cemetery.
Friends will be received at Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. An additional hour of viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00pm until the hour of service.
