LOLA LEE CRONACHER passed away at the age of 83 on January 17th, 2018 in Oak Park, Illinois. Lola was born on December 3rd, 1934 in Hollis, New York to Mary (Higgins) Lee and Joseph Lee. She graduated from Queens College with a major in English and earned a Master’s Degree from Hofstra University. Lola was a tenured English teacher at Campbell Junior High School 218 in Flushing, New York, and was a long-time resident of Lloyd Harbor and Huntington, New York. She loved Shakespeare, literature, the arts, theater, and visiting museums in New York and abroad. Lola was proud of her Irish heritage and studied Yeats in Sligo, Ireland. She loved to travel, paint, and write letters with vivid descriptions to her loved ones. Lola had a wonderful sense of humor, a keen intelligence, and a talent for striking up conversations with everyone around her. She created a breathtaking, extensive garden for her home in Huntington. Lola was predeceased by sisters Lillian Lange and Ursula Hettema, and by brother Thomas Lee. She is survived by daughters Karen Cronacher and Suzanne Cronacher from her marriage to Warren Cronacher, sons-in-law Joshua Thurman and John Moen, twin grandsons Trevor Moen and Parker Moen, and Matilda Thurman.
