William Andrew Raines Jr.

Mr. William “Bill” Andrew Raines, Jr passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Bill was born on May 6, 1938 to Margaret and Andrew Raines in Columbia, SC. Bill was a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and retired in 1983 with 28 years of service to his country. He then went to work for MCI Telecommunications as a Director of Communications. Bill was a strong, kind, loving family man with a “wicked” sense of humor.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Bradley Raines, father, William Andrew Raines, son William Andrew “Andy” Raines III, and sisters, Janice Raines Metz and Patricia R. Clance. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marilyn; his son, Michael Anthony Raines; his sisters Kathy (Wayne) Mattox and Wendy (Joe) Brashear; his grandchildren, Kellie Elizabeth (Adam) Denton, William Andrew (Natalie) Raines, IV, Christopher Allen Raines, Brian Matthew Raines, Zachary Mitchell Raines, Jeremy Nathaniel Raines, and Jolie Michelle Raines; his great grandsons, Avery Law Denton, Finley James Denton, and great granddaughter Savannah Leigh Raines; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 1 PM until 3 PM with the service immediately following at 3 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. A private burial will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
