Wayne Morris Camp, age 84, of Winston, Georgia passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. He was born July 16, 1939 in Douglas County, Georgia. Mr. Camp lived in Douglas County during his youth and subsequently moved to Cherokee County. He graduated from Cherokee County High School. He was enlisted in the Air Force Reserve after graduation. Mr. Camp began his college career at Georgia Tech and was very close to earning a degree in Engineering when he transferred to Georgia State University and changed his major to Accounting. Upon passing the CPA exam, he went to work for Arthur Anderson. Eventually he opened a CPA practice in Douglasville Ga in the early 70s. He actually had the first computerized bookkeeping service in Douglas County. Mr. Camp was a property developer and operated several successful businesses. Mr. Camp made an impact on many young lives during his years of coaching youth sports; coaching softball, baseball, football and basketball. While he was very proud of his professional career, he was even more proud of his family. He raised 2 daughters and a son. Eventually 9 grandchildren entered the family and now 11 great grandchildren have followed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Virginia (Brewer) Camp and brother James R Camp
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 16 years, Melba Camp; daughters Dana (Kim) Pilgrim, Rochelle Trawick, son Mike (Holly) Camp.
Grandchildren; Jason Skinner, Ryan (Megan) Pilgrim, Shane Pope, Tyler Pilgrim, Trevor Trawick, Ansley (Brandon) Marshall, Chloe (Brandon) Smallwood, Carleigh (Lance) Smith and Celia Camp.
Great Grandchildren; Logan Skinner, Brynley Pilgrim, Lucas Pilgrim, Ayden Skinner, Coraline Pope, Bailey Trawick, Suzie Pope, Skylar Pilgrim, Colton Marshall, Lance Michael Smith and Barnes Smallwood.
Also surviving are brothers William J Camp, Joe (Evelyn) Camp and sister Carole (Lee) Johnson.
Stepchildren; Ed Rainwater, Mike (Priscilla) Rainwater, Karen (Kenny) Prince and David (Rebecca) Rainwater.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. and on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00. The funeral service will be held on November 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel, Interment will be at West Georgia Memorial Park in Carrollton.
