Walter Alvin Wallace, Jr., age 81, of Winston, Georgia passed away June 25, 2023. A native of Georgia, Alvin was born January 26, 1942 in Atlanta. A loving and devoted husband, family was the most important thing to Alvin, who was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a successful career with Lathem Time Corporation retiring with over 40 years of service. Alvin and his wife, Charlene, enjoyed maintaining their home place with eight acres, which took up much of their spare time. Alvin enjoyed taking trips with his friends, especially traveling to Gatlinburg. He was a long-time member of Douglasville Seventh-day Adventist Church serving as a deacon for many years. Alvin had a great love for his church family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Theresa (Brock) Wallace, Sr.; his son, Brion Wayne Wallace; an infant brother, Wayne Wallace, as well as two additional brothers, Lynn Wallace and Richard Wallace; and a brother-in-law, Joel Chandler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 64 years, Charlene (King) Wallace; daughter, Diana Wallace; sisters, Ammajean Chandler and Louise Suffridge (Ken); two grandchildren, Kelly Sanders (Scott) and Renee Tyler (Mike); four great-grandchildren, Emma, Isla, Jon and Libby; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor Tom Carter, Pastor Ian Carney and Pastor Hal Peggau officiating. Interment will follow the service in Rosehaven Cemetery.
