Tommy Alan Smiley, age 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was born January 16, 1953 the son of the late Joseph Harvey and Ida Kathleen Marcy Smiley. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired a manager and maintenance professional of a leading vehicle rental agency. He was a Baptist by faith.
Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. While he enjoyed racing of all forms, Tommy was especially fond of NASCAR. He was a fast car and motorcycle aficionado, but anything with wheels he loved and handled well.
Tommy loved to travel, and was always planning his next trip to Las Vegas or the beach. Animals held a warm spot in his heart, especially his numerous Bloodhounds and his brother’s late Great Dane. Tommy enjoyed a variety of music from oldies to classic rock, heavily influencing his son’s infatuation with guitar. Of all his passions however, nothing equaled his love and compassion for his family, especially his granddaughter, Emmalynn. Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Deborah Beavers Smiley; son, Brandon Smiley; granddaughter, Emmalynn Smiley; brother, John (Diana) Smiley; mother-in-law, Gloria Jackson; sisters-in-law: Bonnie (Jerry) Boozer and Connie Foster; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 1:45 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm in Rosehaven’s Chapel.
