Ms. Sue Young

Sue Young, age 94, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021. A native of Douglas County, she was born on January 7, 1927 in Douglasville. She remained a lifelong resident of Douglasville and was a 1944 graduate of Douglas County High School. Miss Young retired from Bellsouth with 40 years of experience. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville, where she sung in the choir for 60 years and was honored with a plaque for being one of the oldest members.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Leonard Terry Young and Iris Glass Young; brothers, Robert Young and Tom Young; sister, Mary Young Stokes; and a great-great nephew, Robert "Robie" Soniat.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted nephew, Terry (Mary) Stokes; great-nieces and great-nephews, Theresa (Colin) Smith and Lauren, Julie Stokes and Arianne and Yvonne Soniat, T.J. (Heidi) Stokes and Hannah; devoted friend, Charles (Cindy) Freeman; as well as her church family and several lifelong school friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 3:00pm at Douglasville City Cemetery with Deacon Charles Freeman officiating.
