Shirley Henrietta Fields was born to the late David Omega and Ruby Ann Field’s on October 25, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. This union produced Shirley’s only brother, David Jr. David’s union to Cynthia Austin birthed Renee Austin, Ruby, Karen and Crystal Fields - Shirley’s only nieces. For a long period of her early life, Shirley was raised by her grandmother, Henrietta Fields, and her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Earl Turner, which contributed to the amazing person we all grew to love.
"Mom Shirley", as she was affectionately known, was baptized with the holy spirit in 1953 at 11 years of age. This milestone set the foundation for the way she would begin her journey as a servant of the Most High God.
Shirley met and married Horace Lee Branch Sr. in 1958 and raised her first born son, Michael Anthony Fields. Together, they cared for her grandmother, Henrietta, until her transition in March 1960. This union also brought forth two additional siblings: Horace Jr. and Margaret Antionette.
Mom Shirley worked as an Administrative Supervisor for Wells Fargo Alarm Services Division until later retiring. She rededicated her life to the Lord at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat while attending Christ Like Assembly Church under the direction of Reverend Thomas T. Jr and Christine Taylor - this experience forever changed her life.
Mom Shirley joined New Beginning Fellowship Church of Philadelphia, PA in 1991 as a founding member with the founding pastors, Apostle Julia Blackwell and Judge McKinley. She received her pastoral confirmation in 2002 and was installed as administrative pastor in 2007. Here, Shirley met her devoted husband, Tyrone Jones. Together, they parented her step-son, Kenneth, and her great nephew, Derrick Austin, following the transition of his mother, Renee. Pastor Jones affectionately served the ministry for 25 years.
Pastor Jones ended her tenor with New Beginning Fellowship in 2015. Apostle Darrick and Prophetess Angel Thomas of Bethel of Praise International Outreach Ministries lovingly embraced her until her relocation to the state of Georgia in 2018.
Pastor Jones peacefully transitioned her life of service and upgraded on March 14, 2021 surrounded by her children and great-grandchildren - who were the joys of her world. She leaves to mourn her departure: four children, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
God the Father tenderly loves you and so do I. See you soon.
