Selena Mitchell, age 62, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, February 12, 2024. She was born January 16, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia. The sweetest person in the world and loved by her family—Selena was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies. She was known as “Tiny” when she was young. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Selena went on to graduate from Mercer University earning her Bachelor and Masters degree. A glamourous lady who loved fashion and shopping, Selena was dainty and elegant, and loved pearls. She was a very loving and giving person, as well as intelligent and sassy. She loved the holidays. Selena was a fighter until the end and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Jordan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, William and Mary Louise (Rouse) Mitchell; two daughters, Isis Regina Byrd (Alexander) and Chinelo Aniekwu; brothers, Reverend Cedric Mitchell, Phillip Mitchell Jhordann and William Mitchell, Jr.; sisters, Minister Carla Saulsberry and Sylvia Hardeman (Matt); two grandchildren, Javon Byrd and Lexi Byrd; as well as numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Cedric Mitchell officiating.
