Ruth B. Walters, age 95, of Carrollton, Georgia and formerly Douglasville, Georgia where she lived from 1953 until 2020. Ruth passed away Monday, July 15, 2024 at Piedmont Healthcare in Newnan, Georgia.
She was born in Louisiana on May 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Elisha Casper Barber and the late Ruth Barber. Ruth was a woman of strong Faith and an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglasville, Georgia since the early 1950’s, which she called her second home. Throughout the years, she spent many hours attending church, working with the youth (MYF), attending the WMU meetings, assisting with meals for various events, working with the backpack ministry, involved with the Oaks Group, and making sure everything looked just right! If there was church, Ruth was there and many times, she would work on off days behind the scenes to prepare for whatever may be scheduled ahead.
Ruth married the love of her life, Dudley Phillip Walters in 1950 and together they raised their family on Stewart Mill Road in Douglasville, Georgia. Ruth loved taking care of her home and her family, she was a one of a kind and to know her was to love her. Her contagious smile was like a magnet and she could talk with anyone about anything. She was a Cub Scout den mother, an afternoon sitter to other children, and a BIG Braves fan. Ruth also had an outdoor interest, she enjoyed camping and had an opportunity to raft down the Nantahala River twice. She traveled the U.S and did not miss an opportunity to travel with the West Metro Silver Eagles. When Ruth had hip surgery, her daughter Renae brought her to work at Bay Springs and Ruth now had another audience of children to love.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Anisha Walters, Randy and Gail Walters; daughters and sons-in-law, Renae and Billy Richardson, Regina and Brian Fulenwider; Grandchildren Phillip, Nicole, Tabetha, Susan, Courtney, Tyler, Travis, Trey, Matthew, Emily and Alexis; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Baily, Caleb, Owen, Raine, Hudson, Whitaker, Charles, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Elliott, Cooper, Alex, Harrison, Mabry, Sunni and C.J.
