Robert Harry Monroe, age 89, of College Park, Georgia, passed away on December 2, 2020. He was born on March 12, 1931 in Fulton County, Georgia. “Harry” was loved by all who knew him and had an easy going, positive outlook on life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to bring a smile to all he met. He was an honest, hardworking man that never complained about anything that life brought him. He served in the U.S. Army as a cook (1951-1953) and continued to enjoy cooking throughout his life. He also was a great contractor/ builder/ renovator and there are many, many, many homes throughout Georgia and even Florida that stand today as a testament to his skill.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Elbert Perry Monroe and Lois Adele Holbrook Monroe; brothers, B.T. Monroe, Lloyd Monroe, Doris Monroe, Louie Monroe and Perry Monroe; sisters, Ezell Monroe Skinner and Mary Lois Monroe Paige.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Edwards Monroe; daughter, Lorita Bone (John); son, Robert Neal Monroe (Cindy Gulliver); grandchildren, James Asa Bone, Lori Bair (Jonathan) and Eric Daniel Monroe (Amanda); and great grandchildren, Benner and Asa Bair.
The family will have a graveside service at Riverview Memorial Park in Smyrna, Georgia on Monday, December 7th at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor J.W. Wallis and accompanied by James White. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home in Douglasville.
