Rev. Robert (Bob) Eidson of 102 South Street (Stewart House), Carrollton, GA, passed away July 6, 2017. He was born January 12, 1924 in Douglas County, the son of the late Ettie Mae Cook Eidson and Walton Eidson. Rev. Eidson served in World War II in the 10th Mountain Division from 1944-1945. He also served in Italy; there he received the Purple Heart. After the war, Rev. Eidson was ordained into the Baptist Ministry, pastoring for 65 years. He pastored Ebenezer Baptist Church in Douglasville, GA; Bethel Baptist Church in Temple, GA; Mount Zion Baptist Church in Douglasville; Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston, GA; Banner Baptist Church in Ben Hill, GA; and was called and pastored three times at Campbellton Baptist Church in Fairburn, GA. Rev. Eidson also worked for Chrysler Corporation and retired from there in 1985. He was elected and served a two-year term on the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 289 in Douglasville and was honored with the “60 Years of Service” award. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eidson was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Daniell Eidson; his son, Robert Daniell “Danny” Eidson; six sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include daughter-in-law and her husband, Harriett Eidson Davenport and Tom Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Smith and Rev. Terry Rainwater officiating. Music will be rendered by Cindy Jennings. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hollis, David Saye, Tony Lee, Joe Buckner, Ricky Webb, and Ricky Coats. Interment followed in Prays Mill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Saturday, July 8, 2017, between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00 PM.
