She was born in Villa Rica, Georgia on October 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Claude Lewis Carden and the late Louise Howell Carden. Mama Bette was one of a kind, a true Southern Christian Belle. She loved her family dearly, her church family, and adored her children, but was completely overjoyed when her granddaughters came along to buy all the dresses! Mama Bette loved to read and enjoyed cooking a good southern meal. Mama Bette and Big Pop loved to travel, especially during the early years of retirement. She enjoyed friends and family to visit and loved watching all of her flowers and birds in her yard.
