Mrs. Lottie “Bay” Ann Gilmer, age 83, of Bowdon, GA passed away Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born March 22, 1932 in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Gilmer was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over 75 years. She loved the church and served in many positions, including clerk, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, choir director, and Sunday School secretary. She enjoyed singing gospel music, with her favorite song being “When We All Get to Heaven”, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Gilmer was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Gilmer; her parents, John and Hattie Ledbetter Harper; a sister, Louise Taylor; brothers, Bud Harper and Ted Harper; and grandson, John Eric Gilmer.
She is survived by her son, James “Jim” Anthony Gilmer; daughters, Robin Lynn Sheffield and husband Wendell, and Linda Sue Pittman; grandchildren, Cory Garman, Allen McLain, Kyle Sheffield and Nicole Pittman; great-grandchildren, Madison Sheffield, Dustin Dial and Cameron Garman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy, 8310 Duralee Lane, Douglasville, GA 30134. Mrs. Gilmer will lie in state at the church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
