Mr. Kenneth Daryl Smallwood, Sr., age 70, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16, 1951 to the late Johnnie and Mamie (Reece) Smallwood. Daryl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. A successful business man, he and his brothers owned Smallwood Auto Parts for over 50 years. Daryl enjoyed being outdoors – hunting deer and fishing. He also took pleasure in watching NASCAR, gambling, traveling, and making people laugh. He was known as a silent comedian and no one was safe from his antics. He especially loved memes.
Daryl was a member of the Mableton Masonic Lodge and was also a member of the Shriner’s for over 50 years. While in the Shriner’s, he was part of the motorcycle club. He was described as a quiet man, who’s humble and non-confrontational outlook on life shown in the way he carried himself. He had a soft spot in his heart for his beloved Yorkie, Zoey; they shared many mornings on the couch sharing breakfast together. His larger than life presence will be one that will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Smallwood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Darlene Blackmon Smallwood; his children, Daryl (Wendy) Smallwood, Jr., Vonda (Ricky) Hilderbrand, Angie (Jimmy) Zomprelli, Christie (Jason) Stewart, Kelly (Jason) Smallwood, Amanda Smallwood, and his faithful canine companion, Zoey; his brother, Ike Smallwood; his sisters, Faye (Bill) Poole, Sue Steffner, and Erline (JR) Swan; his 11 grandchildren, Tyler Hilderbrand, Tanner Hilderbrand, Blake Berryhill, Katie Hilderbrand, Dakota Rowland, Annabelle Zomprelli, Anson Stewart, Peyton Zomprelli, Hunter Smallwood, Lily Kate Zomprelli, and Garen Stewart; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loved ones and friends.
