John Larry Jackson, age 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was born January 29, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Jackson was a 1958 graduate of O’Keefe High School. He proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Jackson was a 1974 graduate of Immanuel Bible College. He loved the Lord, and his family was the center of his world. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Mr. Jackson worked as an electrician for over 50 years and was a retired member of IBEW Local 613 of Atlanta. He was a long-time member of King’s Way Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and had served as a former deacon. His life was exemplary of his love for the Lord and his life verse was Romans 8:28.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ervin Calvin Lee Jackson and Ellen Cornelia (White) Jackson; brother, Weldon Jackson; sister, Mary Ellen Cox; and brother-in-law, Ricky Summers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia Jackson; his children, Christine (Randall) Agan, Michael (Michele) Jackson, and John (Jackie) Jackson; brother, Malon (Linda) Jackson; sister, Karen Summers; sister-in-law, Jean Jackson; grandchildren, Kristie Doster, Jennipher Barnett, Alexander Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Jack Jackson, Jamie Jackson, Daisy Jackson and Jimmy Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kyan Barnett, Kyler Barnett and Jackson Doster; as well as other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the King’s Way Baptist Church on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 with Pastor Joe Hayman and Brother Donnie Chandler officiating. Following the funeral, Mr. Jackson will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
