Joe is survived by a daughter, two sons, and several grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nora Evans, and two daughters.
He was born in Dawsonville, Georgia, into a large family with Scottish and Cherokee Indian ancestry. Having grown up in the great depression he had developed a strong work ethic which stayed with him his entire life. After retiring he enjoyed fishing in the pond he had constructed and was endlessly thinking of creative ways to repair and repurpose whatever was at hand.
His willful zest for life and engaging sense of humor were two of his most defining characteristics. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
