Mrs. Guyton was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had the most beautiful smile and was known for her kindness and generosity. However, she was sassy and outspoken. You never had to wonder how she felt about a situation. She retired from Douglas County School System as a cashier in the school cafeteria. She had a special place in her heart for students with special needs and it was often stated that she had missed her calling.
Mrs. Guyton loved her Lord, and it was important to her that her family knew that she had received the Lord as her savior and before her death she wanted to make sure that her family would meet her in heaven. She raised her family to love the Lord, treat others the way you wanted to be treated and that you could never out give God. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Rica for many years.
Mrs. Guyton enjoyed connecting with family and friends through Facebook. She enjoyed playing Candy Crush and online shopping. She could be found snacking on a Little Debbie snack cake. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, cooking, and trying new recipes. She was a talented crafter, and enjoyed going to craft shows. She loved a good girl’s trip to the beach or camping in the mountains.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 56 ½ years, Larry Neal Guyton; her parents, Lawrence Patterson and Willene Kelly Clevenger; and her brother Gary Patterson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Tipton (Eddie), Cindy Thomas, Greg Guyton and Brittney Barron (Christopher); grandchildren, Karie Godfrey, Tyler Godfrey, Danielle Godfrey Leftler (Dwayne), Brook Godfrey, Jessica Theriault (Sam), Kayla Guyton Welch (Ryan), Kimberly Guyton Fisher (DJ) and Christopher Neal Guyton; 11 great-grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters, David Patterson, Peggy Jordan, Connie McClure, Debra Walls, Joe Patterson and Jeff Patterson. There are many other extended family members who will cherish her memory.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven. Services will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Happy Howard officiating.
