On Friday, January 13th, 2023, James Franklin Harrell, a beloved husband, father, and best friend to everyone, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends. A lifelong Douglasville resident, Jamie graduated from Alexander High School and proudly served in the United States Army. After his time in the Army, he once again proudly served his Douglasville community as a sheriff’s deputy for 27 years. He rose to the rank of Captain and became a pillar of the Douglasville community.
After retiring from the Sheriff’s Office, Jamie loved being surrounded by family, playing cards and having breakfast or lunch with all his dear friends and family. Jamie was an avid sports fan and especially loved to cheer on his Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Jamie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lara Braden Harrell; daughter, Mackenzie Mae Harrell; son, Devon James Harrell; godson, William Profit; parents, Franklin and Lynda Harrell; brother, Jesse Harrell; niece, Jesse Lee Harrell; sister-in-law, Sheri Braden Maslak (Brian); as well as many beloved cousins, Aunts and Uncles.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Rosehaven Chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:00 am. Following the service, the burial will take place 3:00pm at J.P. Chastain Memorial Park, 4407 Old Highway 76 Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
