James “Tony” Davis, Sr., age 73, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021. Tony was born October 27, 1947 in Gadsden, Alabama. He lived most of his young life in Gadsden and loved playing football while he lived and attended school there. Tony was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life and nothing ever got him down. He learned to roll with the punches and imparted that wisdom on his children. Tony loved cars and was an avid “Ford” man with a special love for the Ford Mustang. Some of his favorite pastimes were attending car races and car shows. If it involved cars – especially “old” Mustangs – it was his passion. Tony never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. He was Christian by Faith.
Preceding him death were his beloved wife of 34 years, Annette (Bryant) Davis; his parents, C. T. and Josephine (Green) Davis; sister, Geraldine McCormick; brothers, Jackie Davis and Gary Nicholson; brother, Charles Davis; grandson, Dennis Matthew Jeffery; and son-in-law, Frankie Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memory are son, James Davis, Jr. and wife Caron of Griffin, Georgia; daughter, Gwen Thomas of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Caitlyn Davis, Hunter Davis, Jonathan Wilhite and wife Chelsea, and Sarah Jeffery and fiancé Jalen Moore; great-grandchildren, Mattie James Wilhite, Braylon Jeffery, and two great-granddaughters on the way; sisters-in-law, Elaine Prather and Sandra Bryant; girlfriend, Brenda McLamb Taustein; as well as many other family members and friends.
