Georgia W. Simpkins-Burks

Georgia was born on February 16, 1933 in Villa Rica, Georgia, the daughter of the late Claude Williams and Jewell Swanson Thompson. She retired from AT&T as a long distance operator after twenty plus years of dedicated service.

Georgia was a born again Christian and an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia. She loved the Lord and her church family. Georgia was well known for her servant’s heart, she loved life and always carried a beautiful contagious smile. In her earlier years she enjoyed working as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, time spent as a safety guard at Annette Winn Elementary School in Lithia Springs, Georgia and teaching Sunday school. Gardening and traveling were a few other things she enjoyed as well. Most of all she enjoyed her family and being actively involved as a mom, grandmother and great grandmother. Some of her best times were when she had her family all gathered around.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Simpkins and A.C., daughter, Jane Mayfield Clarke, brother and sister-in-law, Joe Williams and Linda, grandchildren, Terri Lynn Atkins (Todd), Kerri Jo Masich (Jake), Robert S. Simpkins (Christine), Chris Simpkins (Kim), Mistie Mayfield Brooks, honorary grandchildren, Gabby Liles and Noah Liles, great grandchildren, Lexie, Logan, Ellie Grace, Tony, Maddox, Nevaeh, Shine, Jovie, Robert, Conner, Elizabeth, Christopher, Maddie Jane.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Burks and Robert D. Simpkins, Sr., daughter, Cheryl Smith, grandson, Tony Bridges, Jr., son-in-law, Terry Clarke, brothers, Willie Williams, Gene Williams, sister, Claudette Summerville.

The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
