She was born October 1, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, where she spent most of her life before moving to Douglasville approximately 25 years ago. Gail received a degree in Theology and was very active in church. She was a member of West Metro Church in Douglasville, where she enjoyed mentoring and was active in the Christian Women’s Ministry. Gail was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother emplifying the Proverbs 31 woman. She had the opportunity to travel to Israel with her church group. A talented artist, she enjoyed spending time painting. In her spare time, she enjoyed journaling and scrapbooking.
She was preceded in death by beloved husband of 20 years, Richard Allen Morris; and her parents, Leland and Dorthea Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Leland Rice (Deneice) and Eric Rice; grandchildren, Brandon Rice (Heather) and Nicole Cook (Jake); great-grandchildren, Lorin Rice, Sydney Rice, Flint Cook, Clark Cook and Aspen Cook; as well as a host of friends. She was loved by those who knew her and will be missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
