Debra Jean Shirley

Debra Jean Shirley, age 68, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023. Debra was born September 22, 1954 in Austell, Georgia. She grew up in Lithia Springs and was a 1972 graduate of Douglas County High School. She retired after many years working in the paper industry. Debra was a quiet, private person, but was very loving and kind to those who knew her. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was dedicated to caring for her parents, and loved spending her time with her nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Debra, knew she loved animals and especially dogs. She always had a pet dog. Debra enjoyed cooking and loved to prepare special holiday dishes for her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, especially to beaches. In her spare time, she was an avid reader.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Virgil R. and Grace Irene (Hicks) Shirley; brother, David Shirley; and sister, Judy Glover.

Those left to cherish her memory are brother, Chris Shirley (Tracey); nieces, Laurie Buckland (Rodney), and Kristin Shirley; nephew, Matthew Shirley; great-niece, Savannah Buckland; and great-nephew, Shane Buckland; as well as other extended family members and many friends.
