A native of Douglasville, Georgia, Booney was one of four children born to the late Curtis and Denise McKown. He was raised to be strong, kind and a good person. Booney always had a passion for sports and would box both in the ring and with his brothers when he was younger. He knew what his roles in sports and life were and his family expected nothing less than the best from him. He played football for Douglas County High School and worked hard to be on the 1st team. Sitting on the bench wasn't Booney's idea of fun and in 1964, he led the Tigers to the All State Championship in 1964 as half back (#22).
After graduating from Douglas County High School, Booney served his country during the Vietnam War. He loved and fought for this great nation having served in the United States Army. He had the heart of a champion and his alpha male personality served him well and helped to bring him home.
Even though Booney acted like a tough guy and had a hard exterior, he had a big heart and was willing to help anyone. When people saw him, he'd bring a smile to their faces; they knew something funny was about to come out of his mouth. He was quick witted and lived life to the fullest. His memory will be missed by his family, friends and community.
