Carolyn Clark Williams, age 84, died on June 14, 2014 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House of Collierville, Tennessee after suffering from complications of a stroke on October 23, 2013. Carolyn Williams was born in Atlanta, GA and was the youngest daughter of Juanita Bradley Clark Mann and William Ellis Clark. Carolyn was married to Sydney Dean "Red" Williams, Sr., for 43 years before he passed in 2003. Both of them were the life of the party and always enjoyed a good time with family and friends. Carolyn was a city girl at heart but adapted well to farming when the family moved to Douglasville, GA in 1964. She was always involved in school activities holding leadership positions for the Bill Arp PTA, soap drives for children of the Vietnam War, cheerleading sponsor, and securing the title of Homecoming King for her son 3 years in a row by selling big butterbeans, rice and cornbread at the football games. She was very active in the Yaarab Shrine of Atlanta Motorettes for a number of years raising money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Carolyn was an avid golfer who played for decades and placed numerous times in club tournaments. She was involved in the Ladies Golf Association at Fairfield Plantation in Villa Rica, GA for years and when she could no longer play she taught golf etiquette to new players of the game. As a Mother she taught her children the true meaning of family by her actions and her choices. She is dearly loved and will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Dean Williams, Sr.; daughter, Tira Jane Williams; sisters, Elsie Clark Punch and Sandra Clark Peppers.
She is survived by three of her four children and their spouses: Cynthia Williams Krag and Don Krag of Collierville, TN; Dawn Williams Busbin Taylor and Bill Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; Sidney Dean Williams, Jr. and Dana Smith Williams of Douglasville, GA; eight grandchildren, Krystle Krag Presley and Kevin Presley, Taylor Krag, Joshua Williams, Ashley Williams, Kayla Williams, Nicholas Busbin, Austin Busbin and Mallori Busbin; three great grandchildren, Cayden Krag, Marley Williams and Sydney Busbin; and her brother-in-law, Danny Peppers of Atlanta GA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend R. C. Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
