Carol J. Mackin

Carol Jones Mackin, age 84 of Douglasville, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2024. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 11, 1940, daughter of the late Delmar Jones and the late Sarah Bernice King.

She loved sports and was a big football fan. She played softball in her younger years, and Carol was always the “team Mom” when her children were involved in sports growing up. She enjoyed being around people and loved her family gatherings.

Carol was one of the owners/operators of Gipson’s Restaurant in Douglasville for 17 years, and she was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Henry Lester Mackin, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Thomas Earl Houser.

She is survived by her children, Mark Mackin (Teresa), Leslie Moon (Duane); sisters, Janet Houser and Diane Bigham (Bill); grandchildren, Cydney Mackin, Carlyn Mackin, and Alayna Moon; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM.

A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel of the funeral home at 3:00 PM with Pastor Josh Smith officiating.
