Bobby Lee Carter, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was born April 27, 1941 in Colbert, Georgia. A devoted husband to Betty for 58 years, and a loving father and grandfather, Bobby loved spending time with the family and watching his grandchildren play ball and other activities. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service with over 35 years of service. Originally from Athens, he was an avid Georgia football fan – GO DAWGS – and was a season ticket holder for over 50 years. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. He was known to be quite the jokester. He loved going to the beach. Daytona Beach was his favorite. In fact that is where he took Betty on their honeymoon. It was the first time she had ever seen the ocean.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Betty (Dove) Carter; his parents, Thomas Grady Carter and Elizabeth (Brown) Carter; brothers, Bo Carter, Ralph Carter and Bud Carter; sisters, Mary Berryman, Jenny Berryman and Beck Guenther.
Those left to cherish his memory are son, Brian Carter (Afsha); daughter, Beth Blair; brother, Joe Carter (Malcolm); sisters, Dot Shivar and Joyce Darby; grandchildren, Makenzie Carter, Kaitlin Blair, Brantley Carter and Blake Blair.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor David Shivar officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his beloved Betty in Rosehaven Memorial Park.
