Bobby was also my first cousin.   I was the youngest of all the Rochell sister's children,  i.e. the runt.  I grew up in awe of all of my cousins,  Nancy, Bobby, and Diana.  But as a boy, I definitely thought Bobby was the coolest guy I would ever know.  Bobby loved cars. I can remember one Christmas,  Aunt Lois gave him mag wheels to put on his GTO, again the coolest car I had ever seen.  I tried to pick one up, and couldn't even get it off the carport floor.  He offered to show me how it was done and the next thing I knew, "I" had picked it up!  Well, not really, but I told everybody I had.  Even then, Bobby's sweetness,  giving and loving nature shown through.  And it never left him.  In his latter years, we talked a lot about medical things, but he always closed with "Family is family", and he was right. We have all lost a special man,    We will all miss him terribly.  And we take solace in knowing he is in a better place.  So rest in peace, Bobby Tom, the coolest cousin I could ever have wished for.

Bob was a dedicated professional and true friend to all in everything he did.
One of the things  he did was to train (at his own expense)  as a Police Helicopter Professional. He achieved F.A.A. Certification  as a Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor. 
This was done to benefit the faltering Atlanta Helicopter Unit. 
He was adamant about training within the unit.  Training was accomplished.  With his dedication and well trained crews, Excellence was achieved. His efforts resulted in a Unit being  Nationally recognized. Through these accomplishments  many benefits otherwise not available to the citizens and City of Atlanta were achieved.
    I would like to dedicate This Pilots Poem in remembrance

               Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
                And danced the skies on Laughter silvered wings
                sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
               Of sun-split clouds  and done a hundred things 
                high in the sunlight silence Hovering there
                 I've chased the shouting wind along
                and flung my eager craft through footloose halls of air
                and, while with silent lifting mind
                 I've trod the high un-trespassed sanctity of space
                Put out my hand and touched the face of 
                GOD

Although we will miss him on Earth, He will live on in our hearts.
We know that he is now "reaching out and touching the face of GOD"  as he dances with ANGLES !



Bob Ingram's lasting imprint on this earth is most evident in his legacy and from the heartfelt memorials left by those who knew him during so many phases of his life.

Bobby was my first cousin on our mothers' side, and was raised by his devoted, single mom, Lois Rochell Ingram during a time when it was even more challenging for a young mother. It took courage, conviction, and sacrifice and so many other attributes she passed on to her son, as well as remaining kind and humble.

My sister and I still remember our cousin's many visits to our TN family farm. Our father Milton T. Blackwell was like a second dad to him. He taught his nephew to hunt and a healthy respect for firearms. He also taught him to drive farm equipment when his mom wasn't looking! And Bobby quickly learned the difference between our herd of cows and our one bull, an important lesson for a kid with bright red hair!

Most of our last conversations before his passing were about family. He would always say, "no matter what happens, family is family!" He felt the same about his close friends and especially those at the Atlanta Police Department.
I will miss him every day of my life.

Bob  was a  good person  when he was sick  and needed help  he would call me   to help him out of bed   sometimes 10 or 11 at night  but it did not matter  I was there   he always ask me if I needed anything   I would say no.  That's what friends do.   Rip my friend

Bobby Tom (as we called him as kids) was my first cousin, our mothers were sisters and best friends.  Bobby and Aunt Lois spent most Christmas holidays with us when we were small children.  It was great fun because Lois was much more generous with gifts than our parents, and she made sure we had as many toys as Bobby.  While my sister and I hung stockings for treats and small gifts, Bobby always hung a pillow case!  And it would be full the next morning.  Fortunately, even as a kid, he was very generous and shared with us.  I miss those days and you, Bobby.

Bobby, I had so much fun as a kid in the 80s hanging out with you and Lois! Those were some of my favorite times. Endless MTV and a seemingly bottomless pit of my favorite candy, M&Ms! You were so much fun to be around and always made me feel like I was fun too, even though I was just a kid eating all your candy and watching all the tv on Lois’s Jumbotron! I loved telling my friends about my second cousin who was a helicopter pilot, it felt very exotic haha! You will be missed by many. Much love, Britt

We are sending healing prayers and comforting hugs as you embrace your new reality. Our prayer is that you feel comforted and surrounded by the outpouring of love from your APD family. Love leaves a memory that will never be voided. We pray that the love of God surrounds you during this difficult journey. We will pray for your courage to face the days ahead, and peace to bring you comfort. People that depart from this earth never truly leave, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds. Through us, they live on. May your heart and soul find peace.

I met Robert in 1978 and we were friend from the start. We rode Motorcycles together some - and I always tried to stay in touch. So sorry to hear of  your   passing into Heaven. I will keep the wonderful memories of you always. Take care Robert, see you when I get there !!

Bob was a really  fine gentleman and a quality Atlanta Police Officer of the highest order for over three (3) decades . He lead by example and always treated the troops and citizens respectfully and professionally .
I extend my sincere condolences to Bob’s family and may his memory live on and he rest in eternal peace ...

 He was very easy going and so polite to everybody always and loved being a Lt for the Atlanta Police Department for over 30 years and he was the best. I'm so happy that we got to talk a lot his last few weeks on this earth and he's in a better place with the Lord now. I miss you and Rest in Peace Daddy.

Bobby, certainly will be missed!!!. I am the mother of his only child " Kellie" .  we've known each other 62 years. We met at rollerdrome skating rink in Atlanta. and wow could he skate. We married in 1967. We  married again when he returned from Vietnam. He was a good man and I'll miss talking to him daily.. He's in a much better place now. He was an easy going man with a heart of gold.  So missed !!

Saddened by the loss of a kind, loyal and dedicated family man and public servant. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Bob and I worked together for over fifteen years on the APD motorcycle and helicopter squads. He was always kind hearted and concerned about others. We had a lot of good times together and went through some tough times also. Bob was like a brother to me and I sure will miss him.  I had the honor of being there when he accepted Christ as his Saviour so I know for a fact he is in a better place now.  Bob loved working for the Atlanta Police Dept. and serving his fellow man; it was just who he was.  He will be missed greatly. 

Bobby was one of the best friends I was blessed to have in my life.   His loyalty and devotion to his friends and those lucky enough to have worked with him knew no bounds.  I will cherish the many memories I have. RIP, my friend, you will be missed. 

Bob, you paved the way for the new age of supervising , fair and transparent, May the Grace and Mercy sustain your family during these difficult times!!
